WTI wobbles around $70.00 within a tight range

· *Prices of the WTI alternate gains with losses around the $70.00 mark/bbl.*
· *Support emerges around weekly lows in the $69.30 region.*
· *US oil rig count by Baker Hughes next of importance in the calendar.*

Prices of the barrel of the *West Texas Intermediate* are attempting a sideline theme in the area of weekly lows around the key $70.00 handle.

*WTI now looks to data*

Prices of the barrel of the American reference for the sweet light crude oil ae looking for traction in the lower bound of the weekly range following Wednesday’s sharp pullback and Thursday’s multi-day lows in the $69.30 region.

WTI dropped markedly on Wednesday despite the EIA reported a more than 12 mbpd draw in US crude oil supplies, the largest decrease since 2016. In fact, news that Libya could resume its exports of oil impacted on traders’ sentiment and forced prices to recede more than $4 and break below the psychological $70.00 mark.

In the same line, the prevailing effervescence around the US-China trade spat continues to weigh on the market and keeps capping any bullish attempt in prices.

However, WTI found some respite after the latest monthly report from the IEA said crude oil supply could be threatened in light of the stretched spare capacity following OPEC+ plans to increment the output.

Later in the day, driller Baker Hughes will publish its weekly report on US oil rig count.

*WTI significant levels*

At the moment the barrel of WTI is up 0.04% at $70.45 facing the next hurdle at $72.97 (10-day sma) followed by $75.34 (2018 high Jul.4) and then $77.95 (high Nov.21 2014). On the downside, a break below $69.30 (low Jul.12) would target $67.86 (low Jun.27) and finally $67.16 (100-day sma). Reported by FXstreet.com 16 minutes ago.

Restaurant Sales Continue Slow and Steady Uphill Climb

Year-over-year chain restaurant sales increased 1.1 percent in June, the fourth consecutive month of positive or flat comp sales. These insights come from TDn2K’s Black Box Intelligence™ data, based on weekly sales from over 30,000 locations representing 170+ brands and nearly $70 billion in annual sales.

DALLAS (PRWEB) July 14, 2018

Year-over-year chain restaurant sales increased 1.1 percent in June, the fourth consecutive month of positive or flat comp sales. The increases compare to relatively soft prior year numbers, but continue to suggest a turning point from the consistent declines of 2016 and 2017. Performance began to improve in the fourth quarter of 2017 and the industry has reported monthly sales increases in six of the past nine months. These insights come from TDn2K’s Black Box Intelligence™ data, based on weekly sales from over 30,000 locations representing 170+ brands and nearly $70 billion in annual sales.

The comp sales numbers are encouraging, but come against a backdrop of continued softness in guest counts. Store traffic declined -1.7 percent in June. This is an improvement of roughly one percentage point over trends from earlier in the year, but it points out the headwinds faced by the industry with respect to driving visit frequency.

Same-store sales in the second quarter of 2018 were up 0.8 percent, the third consecutive quarterly increase and another indication of a strengthening industry environment. Growth was consistent throughout the period with positive sales in 12 of the 13 reporting weeks. Traffic was down -2.0 percent, a slight improvement over the -2.6 percent drop in the first quarter.

Off-Premise Sales Fuel Growth in 2018
Year to date, sales are up 0.5 percent in 2018 versus a -1.2 percent decline at this point last year. All segments except fine dining were stronger in 2018. Compared to 2017 performance, casual dining and fast casual reported the most improvement.

The numbers reflect a changing landscape with respect to how consumers use chain restaurants. Virtually all the observed gains have come from to-go and delivery sales. Every segment recorded a decline in dine-in sales and every segment except family dining and quick service experienced to-go sales increases. Fine dining and upscale casual reported large percentage increases, but off-premise is a relatively small portion of their business. Their in-unit sales were the strongest in the industry and reflect the importance of a dining experience to consumers visiting those brands. The degree to which they can expand food delivery remains to be seen.

The casual dining segment reported double-digit increases in to-go sales so far in 2018. Many of these brands already have significant existing off-premise businesses and are capitalizing on a variety of social media and technical innovations to exploit additional to-go and delivery opportunities.

Top Line Driven by Pricing
Check average is up significantly this year. For the first six months of 2018, average check is up 2.9 percent versus 2.2 percent for the same period last year. Price increases, largely in response to higher labor costs, are certainly a factor. But a large portion of the change in average check is attributable to casual dining, which may be influenced by the previously noted increase in to-go and delivery.

Economy is Robust, But Tariffs Loom
“The stronger growth in the second quarter was broad-based and has supported robust hiring,” according to Joel Naroff, president of Naroff Economic Advisors and TDn2K economist.

“With more people working and wages rising a little faster, consumers are spending again. The good news for the restaurant industry is that households are not over-extending themselves as much as they had been. They are now saving a little more as well as spending more. That means the improved demand at restaurants should be sustained. The only risk to the economy is the emerging trade war. Right now, it is largely a skirmish that should not affect economic activity significantly. But if the tit-for-tat on tariffs accelerates, growth could be harmed, inflation could accelerate and interest rates could rise even further. The best guess is that it will not reach that stage, so expectations are that the economy and consumer spending will be solid the rest of the year. That bodes well for restaurant sales.”

The Downside of a Robust Labor Market
Unfortunately, the same strong labor market that propels restaurant spending has also produced the most challenging staffing environment in many years. Turnover at both the hourly and management levels is at record highs and has become the “new normal”. Data from TDn2K’s People Report™ provides little comfort that market conditions will change soon. Accordingly, brands are struggling to adapt their service models to the new reality of low unemployment and rising wages. This is an especially difficult balancing act. Margins are always a priority, but experienced operators are well aware of the established linkage between quality service, consumer sentiment and revenue.

The upswing in sales is welcome news. General economic conditions are a bit fragile but should be favorable enough to support continued demand. There are fundamental challenges facing the industry, including difficult labor markets and an over-supply of restaurants. Nonetheless, we are encouraged that top-performing brands consistently find ways to deliver strong results in sales, people metrics, and social sentiment.

TDn2K™ (Transforming Data into Knowledge) is the parent company of People Report™, Black Box Intelligence™ and White Box Social Intelligence™. People Report provides service-sector human capital and workforce analytics for its members monthly. Black Box Intelligence provides weekly financial and market level data for the restaurant industry. White Box Social Intelligence delivers consumer insights and reveals online brand health. TDn2K membership represents 43,000 restaurant units, 2.5 million employees and nearly $70 billion in sales. Pet Fire Safety Day Alerts U.S. Pet Owners of Fire Hazards in Homes

In observance of National Pet Fire Safety Day, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) is encouraging pet owners to learn about home fire hazards, including the potential risks when pets are left home alone, and ways to prevent these potentially destructive incidents while keeping pets safe.

AUSTIN, Texas (PRWEB) July 14, 2018

House fires affect approximately 500,000 pets each year. Alarmingly, pets accidentally start nearly 1,000 home fires every year, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). To reduce these numbers, the American Kennel Club (AKC) and ADT Security Services created National Pet Fire Safety Day, which is observed annually on July 15. The event brings awareness to home fire hazards, including the potential risks when pets are left home alone, and offers prevention plans to ensure the safety of your pets and your home. In honor of this day, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) encourages pet owners to learn how pets can start house fires and, more importantly, how to prevent them.

"The most tragic cases we treat in the hospital are always the ones suffering from issues that could have been prevented,” said TVMA member and emergency veterinarian Jennifer Hennessey Bremseth, DVM, CVJ, CAPM, (CCRP, CCMT), of Animal ER of Northwest Houston and Wonder Pet Rehab & Recovery. “Injuries can range from minor to life-threatening despite the severity of the fire.”

By simply taking a few precautionary measures, pet owners can practice responsible pet ownership and significantly reduce the risk of their pets starting fires. AKC and ADT provide the following tips on how to prevent these potentially destructive incidents while keeping pets safe.

Remove or Cover Stove Knobs: The National Fire Protection Association states that “a stove or cook top is the number one piece of equipment involved in your pet starting a fire.” AKC recommends removing or covering stove knobs before leaving the house.

Extinguish Open Flames: With an innate curiosity for unfamiliar sights and smells, it’s not uncommon for pets to examine lit candles, cooking appliances and even fire in fireplaces. Do not leave pets unattended around open flames and extinguish a flame before leaving the house.

Use Flameless Candles: Instead of purchasing traditional candles, consider investing in flameless candles that contain a light bulb. This will put animals out of danger if or when they accidently knock a candle over with their paws or wagging tails. The lack of fire also prevents potential burns to your pet.

Keep Pets Near Entrances: When away from home, keep pets in rooms or areas near entrances in case firefighters need to find and rescue them. Also, make sure your pet’s leash is at the ready and that he or she is wearing a collar with identification at all times. Microchips are a great identification tool for pets because they can’t be lost like a collar. Whichever means of identification you use for your pet, be sure the contact information is up-to-date.

The AKC recommends installing smoke detectors that are connected to a monitoring center so pet owners and emergency personnel are alerted of fire and smoke when they are not at home. To save rescue workers time when searching for pets, use a pet alert window sticker that identifies the number of pets inside of the house.

Pet owners who follow these safety protocols and are aware of potential hazards will be better prepared to prevent and respond to a fire, if necessary.

Early traction for Oklahoma startup prompts expansion into Texas

Yukon, Oklahoma (PRWEB) July 16, 2018

Insurance tech startup BriteBee has launched an online platform to help consumers find and compare quotes from local insurance agents, without compromising their personal information. BriteBee’s platform seeks to bring transparency to an industry dominated by consumer confusion and the sale of personal information.

“People hate searching for insurance,” says BriteBee CEO and Co-Founder, Keagan Henson. “There is so much value in a personal agent/client relationship, but that trust is hard to build in the current landscape of faceless search engines and lead generation sites. BriteBee is here to change that.”

The online platform provides a refreshing experience for both sides of the insurance market - insurance agents and insurance consumers. BriteBee grants users access to a directory of agents, giving consumers the power to choose which agents they want to work with based on proximity, experience, services, and an in-app rating system. For agents, BriteBee turns qualified lead discovery into a byproduct of customer-centric business and removes the need for cold-calling and emailing. Leads found through BriteBee are of a much higher quality due to the customer choice based relationship.

“BriteBee is a great lead provider! They attract quality prospects that give complete and accurate information, their site is very user-friendly, and the customer service is outstanding,” said one agent regarding the experience. An online review from a customer also stated, “I saved almost $1,700 on my combined auto and home policies through an agency I would have never known about if it wasn't for BriteBee! It was an absolute win for me and a very easy process.”

BriteBee has quickly grown in popularity and support over the past two months:· Participating at OnRamp Insurance Conference and Collision Tech Conference
· On-boarding over 50 insurance agents in Oklahoma
· Partnering with the Thunder Launchpad, StitchCrew, Rocket Referrals, ZipWhip, IAOA, Right Now Media at Work, LoveWorks Leadership, GAN startups and others to help serve insurance agents and consumers as the company grows and evolves

BriteBee.com officially launched May 31st and is currently connecting agents and consumers in the state of Oklahoma as it works towards serving the insurance industry on a national scale. BriteBee will begin on-boarding Texas insurance agents in July 2018. Reported by PRWeb 6 hours ago.
